Ridge’s pitch — covered in full here — is two metal plates and an elastic band, nothing more. It’s the wallet most other minimalist metal designs get compared against, which is also exactly why it’s worth looking at what else is out there: once you know you want RFID protection, a slim profile, and an easy way to fan cards out, several other brands solve that same brief with a different mechanism, material, or price point.

Here are six, from Ridge’s closest metal-wallet rivals to wallets that swap the whole approach for leather.

Secrid Slimwallet

Ridge requires a thumb push and a manual fan. Secrid’s lever presents the cards in its aluminum core in a stepped stack. The Slimwallet holds four embossed or six flat cards in that core, plus up to six cards in the leather wrap, and includes a banknote holder.

Choose it for organized card access and leather around the mechanism. Extra cards in the wrap do not pop up with the core cards, and RFID shielding is confined to the core. Our Ridge vs. Secrid comparison covers cash handling and repairs.

Ekster Parliament

Push the button and the core cards rise in a stepped stack. The Parliament combines top-grain leather, a four-to-six-card core, extra card pockets and an internal strap for folded bills.

A tracker is sold separately; select one that matches your phone’s finding network. The older solar tracker is different from Ekster’s Apple Find My and Android Finder models. Choose Parliament for the button action and leather fold, allowing room for extra thickness when filled. Our Ridge vs. Ekster comparison covers tracking, owner feedback and service.

Dango D01 Dapper

The linked D01 Dapper Bifold uses an anodized aluminum frame, silicone band and three-pocket leather wrap. Its stated capacity is seventeen cards, compared with twelve for the single-pocket D01.

Choose the bifold if you want to separate cards in pockets instead of keeping everything in one Ridge stack. The extra wrap makes it a different carry shape, and the silicone band feels less forgiving than Ridge’s elastic. See our three-way comparison for the D01/T01 differences.

Trayvax Original 2.0

Trayvax’s Original 2.0 pairs an aluminum front plate with a stainless-steel backplate. Adjustable paracord and a clasp secure the cards; the backplate adds a cash clip, bottle opener and pry bar. It holds up to fifteen cards and five bills.

Choose it for the tool features and attachment point. At 4.125 × 2.625 × 0.48 inches empty, its footprint is larger than Ridge’s. Our Ridge vs. Trayvax comparison covers access and service, while the TSA guide explains screening considerations.

Andar The Ranger

Sold direct byAndar

The current Ranger uses full-grain leather, four card slots, an elastic pull tab and a leather cash strap. Andar lists capacity for one to ten cards and dimensions of 4⅛ × 2 15/16 × ⅜ inches.

Owner Marc A. liked having separate slots because they were not keen on stacking cards. Choose Ranger for that organization and the leather feel. Full-grain leather can mark and change color through use; patina is a style preference, not a fixed timetable. Our Andar review covers the wider range.

Axwell

Sold direct byAxwell

Axwell keeps the plate-and-elastic concept but uses magnetic interchangeable cover plates. The Copper version includes both a cash strap and a money clip, with capacity for one to twelve cards.

Its main tradeoff is weight: copper is listed at 5.35 oz, substantially more than the Ridge options. Axwell’s aluminum and carbon-fiber models are lighter. Choose copper for its appearance and feel rather than the smallest pocket load, or another material if you like magnetic plate swaps without that weight.

Choose Secrid or Ekster for a card ejector, Dango for extra pockets on a metal frame, Trayvax for integrated tools, Andar for leather slots and a pull tab, or Axwell for magnetic plate changes. For a lower-cost plate wallet, see our inexpensive Ridge alternatives.
